Eddy Current Level 3

PREREQUISITE: CGSB Level 2 Eddy Current certification, or equivalent. Registrants must also have satisfied the math prerequisite.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES: This course is an intensive 5 day course is designed for CGSB Level 2 Certified technicians who wish to challenge the CGSB Level 3 Certification Examinations as per CAN/CGSB-48.9712. Many of the skills required by the Level 3 are common to each NDT method. Four days of the course will concentrate on engineering, materials and components, procedure writing and other methods of NDT.

COURSE OUTLINE:
  1. Interpreting specifications and codes, designating the particular test methods and techniques to be used.
  2. Interpreting indications and evaluating the test part in accordance with the applicable acceptance criteria.
  3. Managing NDT test projects.
  4. Instructing and supervising personnel in the correct and safe use of NDT test equipment.
  5. Instructing and supervising personnel in the correct choice and application of NDT testing techniques and the proper collection and reporting of inspection data.
  6. Assessing the applicability of an NDT test for a particular inspection application weighed against the advantages of other nondestructive test methods.

NOTE: Participants are requested to have a calculator capable of scientific notation. Safety shoes are mandatory for all laboratory work.
